Uzun zaman önce, çok uzak bir galakside yaşanan olayların anlatıldığı Star Wars, çok kısa sürede bir fenomen haline geldi ve çıkışından 50 yıl sonra bile hala popüler olmayı başarıyor. George Lucas'ın kurguladığı bu evrende çok sayıda gezegen de yer alıyor.

Bilim insanları ve astronomlar, uzayın derinliklerini keşfetmek için yaptıkları çalışmalarda pek çok gezegen keşfediyor. Bu gezegenlerden bazıları neredeyse Star Wars filmlerinden ilham almış gibi duruyor. Tabii bize çok garip gelen pek çok gezegen daha var.

Star Wars filmlerinde sık sık gördüğümüz iki güneşe sahip çöl gezegeni Tatooine, Luke ve Anakin Skywalker'ın yetiştiği gezegen olarak da biliniyor. Tatooine'deki gibi iki güneşi olan gerçek bir gezegen var: NASA'nın Kepler görevi sırasında keşfettiği ve ikili bir yıldız sisteminin etrafında dönen Kepler-16b. Öte yandan bu gezegen yaşanabilir değil. Oldukça soğuk bir gezegen ve haliyle bir Mos Eisley Cantina yok.

Obi-Wan Kenobi ve Anakin Skywalker'ın düellosunu izlediğimiz Mustafar, kızgın kayalardan daha kızgın lavlara atlanan, oldukça sıcak olan bir maden gezegeniydi. 480 ışık yılı mesafede yer alan CoRoT-7b de benzer özelliklere sahip. Gezegende sürekli olarak çok sayıda yanardağ patlaması yaşanıyor ve gezegen yüzeyine sürekli bir lav akışı var. Tam yüksek zemine geçip karanlık tarafa geçen çırak doğramalık gezegen yani.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back filminin başında gördüğümüz karla kağlı soğuk gezegen Hoth, daha sonra pek çok oyunda da karşımıza çıkmıştı. Peki gerçekte Hoth benzeri bir gezegene gitmemiz gerekseydi en iyi alternatif hangisi olurdu? Bilim insanlarına göre cevap, -220 derece ortalama sıcaklığı ve donmuş yüzeyiyle OGLE-2006-BLG-390 gezegeni.

Meşhur klon ordusu, Kamino adlı okyanusla kaplı bir gezegende üretiliyordu. Hatta bu gezegeni Episode III'te de görmüştük. Obi-Wan bu gezegende yağmur altında Jango Fett ile dövüşmüştü. Gerçekliğimize döndüğümüzde ise GJ 1214b adlı gezegeni görüyoruz. Kalın atmosferden gelen yüksek basınç nedeniyle gezegen yüzeyinde dev bir okyanus olduğu düşünülüyor.

Lando Calrissian'ın yönettiği, havada süzülen bir şehre sahip olan sıcak gaz devi Bespin de en bilinen Star Wars gezegenleri arasında yer alıyor. Serinin beşinci bölümünde gördüğümüz gezegen, daha sonra isyancılara katılmıştı.
